Our Student Ambassadors inaugural cohort shared a common goal: to leverage our members' enthusiasm, enhance KBSU’s outreach, and empower youth leadership. Students focused on key components: Outreach and recruitment, peer support, advocacy, networking, public speaking, and community service.

We offered a range of curriculum that was designed specifically for this cohort. The curriculum was designed to meet the unique needs of our youth. From mentoring and tutoring to job training and leadership development, students completed a fast-track course of services that help youth build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Our team is made up of caring and dedicated professionals who are passionate about helping youth succeed. We are committed to providing the highest quality services and support to our youth and their families, and we work tirelessly to ensure that every young person who comes through our doors has the opportunity to thrive. Graduation involved a dedication to parents and a goal-setting activity.

Our programs are designed to provide youth with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to succeed in life. Community service and community engagement are necessary for building connections among our local residents. Community service helps create a stronger sense of belonging, while also providing essential services and support to those in need. It also encourages student involvement and leadership development. It can help promote awareness of local issues and community needs while strengthening partnerships between KBSU and local organizations. Community engagement enhances personal growth and civic responsibility among our young leaders.

Black Student Unions originated in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement to address racial inequalities in education. Since then, the power of unions has grown substantially. Unions, in general, promote economic equality and build worker power, helping workers win increases in pay, better benefits, and safer working conditions. However, the benefits of unions extend far beyond the workplace and school settings. Unions also give regular people and students a voice in shaping their communities and in their political representation. Unions have been historic in helping people work together. KBSU commits to this work and connecting our members with resources within our local and extended community network.
